I started this vessel while vacationing in the Sierra Mountains, California, surrounded by jagged summits, dense forests, and blossoming meadows.
The flowering plants, gracefully unfurling, inspired this piece.

I was intrigued by the idea of weaving a tri-shaped vessel. The number 3, a triad, is an ancient and sacred archetype which represents many things in different cultures including the 3-fold nature of the Goddess and the 3 realms of lower-middle and upper worlds.
I wanted to connect the triads and used hand-carved stones to provide the connections. |

The center stone is a rare Eudialyte from the Kola Peninsula in Russia.
The stone's intriguing patchwork design of vibrant burgundy and black influenced me as the basket unfolded. |
In the Coachella Valley , Southern California sits an ancient palm grove. High in the canopy nest a pair of owls that emerge each dusk and take magical flight over the desert floor, their silent wings catching the moonlight.
Each year I visit and collect their fallen feathers which I treasure. This piece is a homage to these wonderful creatures. |

When I first saw this stone, I immediately thought it looked like a tiny quilt. I knew I had to have it!
However the stone forced me to work with colors I've never appreciated before. Now I like peach! |
