8" x 11" x 9" Whirlwind

My work has recently evolved into new directions and I’m having a wonderful time letting the pine needles guide me, with no plan or vision of the finished piece. Weaving this way is liberating and exciting as it leads me into fresh territory.

This vessel was a joy to weave, each twist and turn taking me into the unexpected.

Going in Circles
4" x 6" x 7"

I had a lot of fun weaving this piece. Lately I’ve been captivated with lampwork beads, enjoying the alluring colors, holding them up to the light, turning them, feeling them roll around in my hands like marbles, and with each closer inspection discovering new beautiful qualities within.

Blue and black is my favorite combination, so I delighted in weaving this "vessel" and playing with the beads!

Starlight
7" x 7" x 6 "

While camping in the Redwoods in N. California amongst majestic towering trees and lush ferns, I would sit at night gazing up at the stars in the deep, dark sky. The energy of this area is tangible - the Earth presenting her ancient trees deeply rooted in fragrant fertile soil.

I wove Starlight with dark green thread representing the richness of Nature, and lampwork beads representing the stars shining brightly in the night sky.

Orbital Ellipse
7" x 8" x 9"

This is the 4th vessel in my
"Exploring the Universe" series

Portal
11" x 11" x 5"

The light colored pine needles are natural, the dark needles were prepared with glycerine to darken them to compliment the rust color of the lampwork beads and thread.

The woven section in front suggests an open "door",
a portal to the unknown.
